Problem loading web pages

Can anyone tell me what it means when a web page won't open (status bar at the bottom says its done but the page is all white) but there is a small box in the upper right corner with a circle, a triangle and a small box inside it??
This is a new problem on a pc I've used for several years so I'm kind of stumped!!
