After about 3 weeks trying to resolve problems with my PC I have just bought an Acer notebook to use for mostly a website which I have not been able to access during that time. It came with Norton antivirus but I have installed AVG +Firefox and Thuderbird am advised that my router has excellent firewall and have turned off Windows version. On my main PC I have spysweeper but after it blue screened following a full sweep when my PC was returned I have switched it off for a trial period (OK so far) I am sure ABers have views on what I should use. Is the one offered free with AVG any good or is there something better? thanks

I find ad-aware personal to be good for spyware protection (it's free).

also, get a software firewall. I recommend kerio personal firewall (free also).
Spyware doctor is by far the best for finding and removing spyware from your pc
