This probably sounds really foolish but i recently bought a video (that i've been looking for for ages) from amazon and it got shipped over from the states. when i try to play it it's all fuzzy and the sound is completely blurred. i have now reaslised that perhaps it's because it's a u.s video. does anyone know if this is the case and if so there's anything to be done about it?

You'll need a VCR that'll play NTSC tapes and a TV that'll display 'em.
Most modern TVs will have no problem with NTSC, dunno about VCRs though.
yes bannon it because it is a usa video--the usa and uk tv systems are different and not compatible--the uk is known as pal (phase-alternating line) and the usa is ntsc (National Television System Committee )--i can watch a usa tape on my machine cos it is compatible with ntsc playback--if ur video recorder is not then it won't play right--not sure what u can do--if u have someone with an ntsc compatible player u might be able to link both players--play tape on ntsc machine and copy it on to a blank tape in pal machine
These guys will convert NTSC to PAL for you ...

Most modern VCRs play NTSC OK too! I wonder if you have a duff tape? Do you know anyone who can definitely play NTSC that you can check with?
