Windows Update problems... again

Hi all i went out and purchased XP pro. The other day, i had to reinstall it. It needed activating, which meant calling microsoft, and that was fine, no problems. But, the second time i went to WIndows Update, it asked for 'validation' it said an error occured. Any ideas what ti do? Like i say, i bought the full version of XP pro.

Just try it again, I had the same problem, it went through second time.

For reasons I won't bore you with I'm always having to reinstall my Windows XP, it's almost part of my routine maintenance. Have the validation screen visible and phone the freephone number, as you probably have already. Just tell them what they want to know and they'll then give you nine sets of six numbers which you input into the nine windows. Complete the installation by pressing NEXT while they're still on the phone so you can query it if it doesn't work.
