Is there a way to play flash movies from a laptop through a tv? what connections are needed?

Have a look at all the outputs from your laptop and see if there's anything resembling one of the top 4 video output connections there.
Your TV is likely to have the RCA connector there with 2 input sockets.

Whatever the connections are - the first step is to get a cable that runs from one to the other & then to press the button on your TV remote that says something like "video mode" to tune in to that incoming signal.

That's a very vague start point at least
