We've got a a wireless router and I use a desktop to connect but.....its rubbish. Everyone else's in the house is fine as they are relatively close to the router. Mine is some 10 - 15 meters away.

Would it work just upgrading my network card or would it be best just changing the router. It always seems to go down between 6 and 9 pm.

normally, if you are to far away from the router the internet can be slow and mess up, because mine does the same, or it could be the company's fault if they are upgrading it or debuging as they are doing that alot with complaints made and error reports being sent, so i would contact you broadband or whatever you have, suplier and ask why the internet is lagging. and they should give you a good answer for it.
I have a linksys router and the connection is fantastic all over the house and from the bottom of the garden.

My router is in the loft. If the connection does falter it is always because Telewest are having problems, not the router.

You should be getting a better connection than that.
In depends on the thickness of your walls. The signal will be decreased much more rapidly when going through thick walls.

Try dropping the router speed down from the 'g' setting it's probably on now to the 'b' setting (how you do that depends on your router, but it should be in your router settings page somewhere, the one you access from 192.168.1.1 or similar).

If possible move your router to somewhere more central in the house.
