Kapersky AV and spyware protection

Hi I have just moved to Kapersky from Norton. Due to poor reviews of Norton AV I decided not to renew my subscription. If anyone is using Kapersky I would be interested in their views on how good it is at detecting Adware and Spyware. The reason I ask is that I currently run Spyware Doctor but that subscription is up for renewal in 4 days. Should I just let Kapersky take care of this function and uninstall Spyware Doctor? Is there other Spyware detection software available that is better than Spyware Doctor (and obviously Kapersky)? Or should I just renew my subscription to Spyware Doctor? I would be grateful for any opinions/comments particularly if you currently have Kapersky AV. Thanks Chris

I've used Kapersky before and its detection abilites were excellent. The only problem I found was that it slowed my computer down to a crawl, to such a degree that in the end I had to remove it.

I swapped to AVG free edition and its great, cant ever see myself paying for virus softwar ever again. Its caught the few viruses that attempted to install themselves, including ones sent in emails and it updates itself every day so is very current. Most important of all though is that its hardly noticable when its running in the background.
