why wont my digibox work?

my sky digibox refuses to switch on the stand by light stays on red and wont go green either remotely or phisicly ie press the button any ideas?

Had the same problem myself last night. Try turning off at the socket for 10-20 seconds then turn on again. When(and if) it works it should take you to the sky customer channel. It should then be working ok. If this does not work you may have to ring Sky and explain that you have already switched the unit off as this is the standard advice given by them. Hope the above helps

Mine did this on Saturday, and after doing the usual swithing off, removing the card, switching back on and replacing the card, it still stayed on the red light. I rang them and was told to switch off at the mains, then press the back up button keeping it held in whilst you switch it back on at the mains. Keep the back up button pressed and 3 lights should come up on the digibox screen. This didn't work so I was told it was kapput and needed an engineer at a cost of �65 !
As I was going to get Sky+ this Christmas anyway, I've decided to upgrade now rather than paying to get this repaired. Sounds like there's more to this than coincidence now though.
