Please someone If my HP 1355 has ran out of black ink,would the printer stop working or carry on by using the colour cartridge. Thank you

I don't specifically know about the HP1355 but most printers are designed to stop working as soon as any print cartridge runs out. This is to protect the print heads which could be damaged if the printer attempts to print without ink.
