I have a printer connected to my PC which will send a fax - but I have never used it. I might now have to send a fax to USA and when I study the instructions I find I would need to state my email address and my fax number. I haven't got the slightest idea what my fax number is!
Should I have?

Your fax number is your telephone number unless you pay for a seperate line which seems very unlikely if you've never sent a fax from it before.

Thanks, camioneur. Do you know if it is "safer" to fax payment details rather than email them? I've always understood emails were not safe. Your further advice would be appreciated.
You are connected by dial up, I presume?

It does not work with broadband connections.

I am on broadband! So I live and learn! Thanks for your reply, however, Ethel.
I am on broadband and my fax (printer) connected to my PC works perfectly well thanks Ethel.

As far as security is concerned a fax should be a little more secure as it would take a phone tap to intercept it before it reached it's recipiant

My advice on emailing or faxing payment details etc would be to have an account especially for such needs and just use that one. It's then much easier to keep track and they can't take what you haven't put in it if you get my meaning!

Many, many thanks, camioneur. Your reply was really helpful and I am most grateful.
You might want to use paid internet fax service provider. It is very secure, well back-up, can be retrieve anytime and mobile.
