on my desktop pc i opened the registry editor then hkey current user \ software \ microsoft \ internet explorer \ main then in the right pane double click the value " window title" -then just type in what you want -in my case glenis' pc ,now this worked fine on my desktop but on my laptop there is no" window title " it says "window placement " and contains binary code ,which of course i don't want to touch. they are both running windows xp ,how to i get rid of the microsoft internet explorer title and replace with my name??

Add the key window title exactly as it appears on your PC.
Don't screw with the registry if you don't know 110% what you're doing
