How can I share a folder that is on my computer with my daughter on her computer.

Right Click on Folder that you wish to share
Click Properties
Click Sharing Tab
Select 'Share this folder'
Click OK


If you wish your daughter only to be able to view the files in the folder you will have to amend the 'Permissions' Which can be found a little further down from the option that 'Share this folder'.

Right click on the folder and select Sharing and Security.

Select the options under Share this folder.

Make sure you "allow" each others PCs on your firewalls.

It helps if you are in the same Windows Workgroup (see networking options).

Then choose the option View Workgroup computers and the folder should appear.

Forgot to say that after making these changes it is sometimes useful to reboot both PCs to pick up these settings.

It may not be needed by I sometimes find a reboot makes everything work.

Your daughter will then have to map to the folder using Tools>Map Network Drive from windows explorer
