I can think of 2 ways, rummage around in your Temporary Internet Files folder or Firefox Cache and copy the .swf file - personally I find that to be a painful experience or you can use Flash Saving Plug-in from http://www.unhsolutions.net/Flash-Saving-Plugi n/index.html which is what I use.
If you want to play them without opening your browser you can use SWF Opener from http://www.unhsolutions.net/SWF-Opener/index.h tml both are freeware - I use both.
Note: SWF Opener does not open to play .swf files when you are downloading them, it only opens to play those you have stored on your system.
