I have lots of midi files that I would like to record to CD, however when I record from the mixer to the hard drive, the tune records but there is a mass of hiss & crackle in the background and I can't understand why. Does anyone know of a programme that converts .midi to .wav. I realise that midi is not an audio file, but then neither is mp3.and that converts.

Sounds like you need something like this:

Alternatively, do you perhaps have a microphone connected to your soundcard, and/or an external sound source (Sky TV etc.) ? If so, then their volume could be muted but they may still be picked up, generating the background noise.

Thanks Aquariel, download produced same result, but site led me to dowload Midi2MP3 which is excellent. It records direct without using the sound card. Many thanks !
