compress a dvd

I have a dvd that I have stripped away the titles and menus and stuff from but it is still 990Mb, to large to save as data on a cd. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

I Have used DVD Shrink in the past with good results it will compress a movie onto a dvd ok and is free .........

just convert it to mpeg, lots of programs out there to use.
Easily accomodate a 2 hour dvd in this format on a cd.
This site is full of realy useful genius types well worth comming back here for more help.
