I downloaded via bittorrent a zipped folder containing songs for Frets On Fire. But when I try to unzip them to anywhere, I get an error message saying, "File skipped unknow compression method, and nothing gets extracted. Can anyone help?

Are you sure it's a zip file, and not another compressed file type, like a rar file?

Install 7-zip (it's free), and try it with that:

Also be very careful it's not a .exe file with a virus, just calling itself a .zip file - only applies if you double click the file.

If it's not RAR type then it could be a split Zip file whereby you're supposed to have several pieces of the zip file and then a program which puts them together. Or it could be just another dud file.

Actually another possibility is that it's been produced on another type of computer. For example, if you're on a PC and it was created on a Mac then that probably won't work.

A file thought is if it has the extension .zip it might actually be a .gzip file which that program above might open, or if not try www.winrar.com which opens pretty much everything.

trev: even if it was made on a Mac or something else like freeBSD, as long as it's a .zip or whatever, it'll still work.
