How do I increase my traffic to my website free of charge?

You get what you pay for. Which is not much help for nothing.
It will depend on who hosts your website. I use www.1and1.co.uk who supply a program with their package which sends out info together with the search keywords to all engines. Even then it takes an age for the search engines to list. I now advertise my computer website with Thompson Local, and its quite amazing how much quicker things move, but then again, I pay for it with my advert.
If you don't have any hosting help then you have to contact each engine individually and just hope they list your site. The first one I did two years ago took nearly six months to establish.
