ECDL on Disk

Hi. Has anyone been on eletric paper's ECDL cd-rom course? How was it? I'm thinking of trying but am put off by the high price

Sorry, not an answer. Why do the ECDL certification? It seems an over-priced under-rated product. Why not do the CompTIA A+, Network+ or Server+ for general computing technologies or the Microsoft, Cisco, Oracle etc training for specific software/hardware manufacturers? These are much more widely recognised computing qualifications. The other benefits include getting resources from kazaa which contains no ECDL material.

For a good grounding in computer technology I would go for CompTIA A+ certification. It is not easy but it is an internationally recognised qualification. It is also not operating system specific. See http://www.comptia.org/certification/a/default.asp There are many books on the A+, I think the "For Dummies" line are pretty thorough and not that expensive (�25). There are also courses you can do. The exam itself is expensive (�125 compared to �88 for the Microsoft exams) but there are tons of braindumps/exam tutorials/resources on the internet and Kazaa to get you through. I am not CompTIA certified as I went down the Microsoft MCSE qualification route which is obviously very Microsoft orientated but was what the company I work for wanted.

More info: There are 2 exams you have to take to be A+ certified: the 220-221 (A+ core hardware) and the 220-222 (A+ operating system technologies) and each costs �100. You register through http:///www.vue.com and if you go to http://www.examsheets.com you can buy "past papers" (300 + genuine questions for $35 and a money back guarantee if you fail). These certificates are not like school; you have to pay for everything. It just depends if you think the investment is worth it.
