Are you using a patch cable to connect to the cable modem? Do you have errors in the device manager: if yes then do you have the correct device drivers? They should fit on a floppy disk and have been supplied by the card manufacturer. If there are no device manager errors then what about running ipconfig or pinging 127.0.0.1 on the command prompt? Do you get a 169.254.x.x IP address? Do you get a ping reply? If yes to both then TCP/IP is functioning. Is it that you don't get the internet? If you have been using another ethernet card (from another PC maybe) to connect to your NTL modem then switch off the modem overnight (or for at least 6 hours) before plugging it into your pcmcia ethernet card (this is because the MAC address of your old ethernet card is "remembered" by the NTL DHCP server and it has to be reset). Have you setup Internet Explorer to connect via a LAN? Have you another ethernet enabled PC you can connect to (use a cross-over cable) and try pinging each others IP address?
