hey i have recently bought the Belkin Modem ADSL wireless Router, 125 High-speed mode. i have followed the instructions and it says once you switch it on it should come up with installation software but it never did, the cdrom i got with it it just a manual so im confused!! any ideas?
Most routers are configure using your browser. If you read the manual, you may find that you need to open IE and type an address in to access the router software.
This is just a guess, by the way, and I must say that my experience with Belkin products is similar to kujawski's - basically they are crap and so is their tech support.
Hi ya,
You would only get an installation disc if its a USB modem. Yours will be an ethernet connection that don't need a disc. Plug it all in then into your internet explorer key in 192.168.2.1 this i think is the IP address of most Belkin routers. this lets you configure your modem now for internet access. You will need to know various settings from your own internet service provider for this. If you need any more help then just let me know.
Breen M - i tried plugging my ethernet cable to router and laptop, telephone line to filter and router and switched it all on and started up laptop, all the right lights came on tried to put the IP address int2 internet explorer n its says i need 2 b connected 2 the internet!! but how can i b if i hav the router all plugged in?!?! confused 2 the max!!
Hi, No you definitely don't have to be connected to the internet. If you think about it, if that was your first ever modem you'd never be able to get onto the internet then. Either as said it's not actually a modem but only a router. Just double check that it says modem router on the box. Secondly the IP i gave you might not be correct. if its not 192.168.2.1 try a 0 at the end or a 2 at the end instead of 1 as I told you. This can change from router to router. I said that as my Belkin ends in the number 1 but I did have a Netgear that ended in 0.
