A colleagues laptop used to be able to access her broadband connection and then just stopped. It is not a provider problem as far as we can tell.
From command screen she gets a reply if she pings the site by entering the numbers e.g. 172.24.3.31 but only gets "can't find the address" if she enters the site name.
She also can't access any sites (entering numbers or name) through I.E.
Any ideas. (I've flushed the dns! Automatically detect settings is ticked.)
Go to control panel, network connections, and double click the network connection you use whether it be ethernet or wireless. Select internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click on properties. If you are using static IP adressing then the default gateway needs to be specified. Lack of a default gateway can allow a laptop to connect to the network but will not allow access to the internet.
