When sending the same e-mail to a number of people,can i stop each person getting everyone elses address?

If using MS Mail (or similar) choose 'Create Mail' and select the 'to' or 'cc' option where you add addresses. In their you should also see a 'bcc' box, if you put addresses in here none of your recipients will see who else you have copied in or thier addresses - 'bcc' standing for 'Blind Carbon Copy' - not much carbon paper used these days though !

Don't be put of by TC's mention of (MS Mail or similar). The BCC field is part of the email specification (sendmail) and is supported by every mail client, application and script capable of sending mail. Note that a determined person with the right skills set can still find which addresses are in the BCC field so it should not be relied on where privacy is very important.

Oooh, and I forgot to say: when sending annoying forwards to everyone you know, it's common courtesy (but rarely done) to put all the recipient addresses in the BCC field since many people don't want their email addresses published to people they might not necessarily know.

Sorry to correct you TC@Brighton, but I understand that the 'cc' stands for a plural of 'copy' (copies) as represented in Latin. Similarly, LLB is Bachelor of the Laws

I always thought cc meant "Copies Circulated"??

I take onboard all responses as to what BCC actual stands for - my only defence is that after working in an office pre PC era (early 70's), cc stood in our language then for 'carbon copy' - BCC followed in PC speak and was extrapolated to 'Blind Carbon Copy'. I of course am happy to be corrected! rarll, I wasn't trying to 'put you off' by stating what I did (see lisaj comment), I just don't know the technical specifications of every mail client out there having only used a few! Still, I think we've achieved our goal and answered the question somewhere in here - hope that's helped you!?
