I formatted my hard drive and the installed Windows XP, now i cannot connect to the internet. Ineed to configure the router but it wont allow me. Someone said that when i formatted i probably lost the software for the network adapters. When i go device manager network adapters are no where on the list. I don't know what network adapter i have is there anyway of overcoming this problem

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.If you have lots of question marks in the device manager then you need to install the correct drivers. You need to see a list of devcices in the device manager with no question marks nor (worse still) exclamation marks.
I also think you do not need to configure the router since you did not rebuild this. Once you install the network card drivers your network card will pick up an IP address, subnet mask and gateway from the router and you will get onto the internet easily.

If you download & run Aida32 it will identify all your system components, so you can then go to the maker's website(s) & download the required drivers.
