hard drive problem

my pc will not recognise any of my hard drives i have 4 hard drives 2 are connected at any one time .i can only get into the bios screen. running xp pro.

are they both connected on one 'ide' cable?
if so then you need to make sure that the jumper settings on the drives are set as , one to master and the other as slave.

yeah the jumpers are set correctly trying to boot up with 1 hard drive at the moment,but not having much luck at present

have you set autodetect in BIOS for hard drives, i take it that they are ide type and not SCSI or any other interface?

yes bios is set to auto detect and they are ide

ok, so both disks from one cable, jumpers are set to master and slave, in bios set to auto detect, where they detected before?
is the power lead plugged into each drive?
could be a psu problem?(if they are) can you feel them spinning? when pc switched on?
are any of the disks pins broken?
or on motherboard?
if none of these then either disks are ******** or ide controller on motherboard maulfunctioning?
ide cable problem?
try another cable?

pc now fixed it was a fault in the bios thanx for all the help
