It's not necessarily unsafe, but it will slow everything down.

Get rid of it.

the widget you mean? i was worried about the cpu numbers
Anything that runs the cpu at 100% is using up far too much of the resources and will slow your pc down.

My pc runs at 2 - 3%, with the odd short peak whilst loading something.

Nothing should be using 100%.

well it's certainly slow today , where can i find my cpu usage without using the widget. I have win xp?
Take off the widget, and see what your CPU numbers are. 100% regular is stupid.
Question Author
i have taken it off but where do i see cpu usage?
Bring up Windows Task Manager and select the Performance tab.

got it . ok , with itunes, firefox, msn messenger & limewire running it's running mainly from 8-20% with jumps every few minutes to 30-40% but seems to be pretty random. You'll all hve to excuse my ignorance on the technical side of things .Computer seems to be running ok this morning though
