i have a xp and i just wanna know every thing i can do to make it faster and more efficiant i mean it aint doing that badley now , but i would like to clear out anything in secret folders that i dont need and anything else that will improve performance
You could always clear out some of the programs it loads at startup go START - RUN and then type in msconfig, go to the startup tab. You'll probably find that there's a few programs in there that can be removed, but do so with care
There are plenty of things you can do to improve performance and system stability:
Uninstall any unnecessary programs taking up space
Delete your temporary internet files
Defragment your hard disc(s)
Run a spyware and virus check.
Update drivers
Disabled unused XP services (not recommended for beginners)
Don't use any background wallpaper
Go to www.snapfiles.com this is a fantastic resource for freeware for xp and download a little package called CCleaner (its actually called Crap Cleaner) this package will clean out all the unnecessary junk that xp leaves behind, treat this with care as it can seriously break your PC if you don't know what your doing so read the help files.
