What is it ???

I found an interesting item yesterday but what is it ??
It looks like a large metal ball-bearing about the size of a golf ball ( " a steelie " as we called em in school ). However when I picked it up it is not solid steel. If you shake it you can hear and feel something rattling around inside, it is obviously hollow. It also has a small flattened area that stops it from rolling around should you sit it on this area. I have never seen one before and no-one in work has either. It has us all flummixed WHAT IS IT ???

EEK !! The item I have found seems a bit big for that !
But saying that it is a bit rusty !!... Think I'll go and wash my hands !!! Adds a whole new meaning to " having a ball "
