whats this icon on my mobile ???

Today a new icon appeared on my phone where the new message icon normally appears to the right of the alarm icon. The thing is it is not in the manual anywhere as to what it is or indeed means! It looks if anything like a very small grey and red battery with horizontal lines across it in grey and to the right a little box with red in it. Has anyone seen this icon before and do you know what it means? I am at a loss. I also checked the online manual and no mention there either!
