erasing a marker pen from dvd +rw discs

I have recently started recording onto dvd discs but have a problem in that on the first 4-5 discs I have used a dvd marker pen but have marked it on the wrong side of the disc.

When I playback the disc the interference is really bad. I have heard somewhere that you can clean the ink off with alcohol. Is this true or is there another method that I should use. Or should I throw the discs away in case they damage my recorder.

Thanks.

Use isopropyl alcahol, the stuff you can buy in CD cleaning kits. That and a lint-free cloth to wipe it with and dry it should get it off, and won't damage the surface.

Just remember to wipe it softly and radially, don't scrub!!
