Have configured a d-link wireless network for my daughter and both pc's working fine on internet, . However no matter what I try regarding network settings I can't get the computers to find each othereven after creating the same network settings on both. Even abandoned firewalls in case it was that but nothing. Any ideas anyone?

I did this a few weeks ago and was really chuffed that I could get it to work!

I used the network set up wizard in xp. For some reason I had to run it a few times and set my firewall settings to medium (from high).

I set my printer to share, and that now works from my wireless laptop.

There is good information here:

http://www.geekgirls.com/windowsxp_home_networ k.htm

especially useful from the heading 'Using your network' and onwards.
From each computer see if you can "ping" the other computer using the hostname and ip address. If that works you are part way there.

Make sure you have a shared folder on each computer. Right click on the folder and select Sharing and Security.

Make sure each Windows userid and password you use is registered on BOTH machines (do not need to be logged on with the same userid and password but that must at least exist on each computer).

Make sure both PCs are in the same Windows workgroup.
