Ummmm..... I believe that the phone has to be tri-band or something similar, the phone has to compatible with other network sims, it'll say on the box if you've got it, or you could check the net to see if the model supports other simcards. If it's locked through having had the wrong pin entered or something then you will have to phone up the network/service provider, you could ask them if the phone supports other sims although i doubt they'd be too happy!
Not sure if this will help or not, but I had to take my phone to Phones 4U, they unfortuntely told me that my phone could only be used for Orange.... but sometimes they can do 'something' which allows you to use it for any network.
Virtually any phone can be unlocked for use on other networks at a cost of about �10.
Most markets these days have a stall where this can be done or by a local independant phone store. Not the likes of Phones4U etc.
However the phone in question is a 3G one and will only accept 3G SIM cards so if you are intending using an existing 2G card with it, you are out of luck.
