Archos Multimedia Player Help

Hi Ive just finished saving for an Archos multimedia player, bought it home and it seems way complicated. Now I am worried that I am not going to be able to use to it's full potential. Can anybody let me know some tips please. I don't have the optional docking station. I thought i would be able to put my dvds into my pc and transfer them from there but it didn't work. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

You have to convert the dvd to a format the Archos can read.

Was it supplied with the software to do this?
