There is a "dawn to dusk" adapter on the market that has a sensor that switches a light on at dusk and off at dawn. This adapter fits between the bulb and the Base/holder.
Unfortuneately, I have only seen it with a bayonet fitting.
Does anyone know where I can get one with a screw fitting?

Thanks for trying TeeGee,
I had previously scoured all the relevant electrical sites but drawn a blank. However, I did go to the Maplin site but the thing I wanted wasn't there. I have emailed them to see if they can offer any assistance and am waiting for their reply.
Best regards.
