inkjet printer

Has anybody got any recommendations for a good inkjet printer (photo quality preferred) with a price tag of up to �100 - �130. I did have thoughts on an epson 830 or a c82 but looking at the reviews the one problem with Epson printers is that the ink heads tend to glog up. So any suggestions anyone ?

I've just bought a Hewlett Packard 5552 for �99 spondoolicks. Looks good in metallic blue. Just printed a photo print CD cover and the result is stunning. Totally sumptious colours. Also, I had to buy in a hurry from the evil PC World. You can probably get it even cheaper elswhere.

I would not be foolhardy enough to offer you advice on which one, since my own personal experience is limited to only three over a good many years. What I would do, however, is to point you in the direction of one with separate tanks/containers for each of the different colour of ink. It is most anoying having to throw away a complete cartridge, still containing a goodly quantity of ink, just because one colour has run out. If you look at the cost of a new printer ( the including ink), and then subtract from that figure the cost of a replacement cartridge you will suddenly realise just how much of a rip off replacement ink is. I know that it is possible to get "compatable" or "remanufactured" cartridges, and also refill kits are available, but I have had variable success with all these.At present (and for the last couple of years) I have been getting satisfaction out of a cheap Canon BJC-3000 on genuine ink.It refuses to perform satisfactorily on anything else

HP are considered to be the best (marginally) for photographic printing but remember that photo-printing uses vast amounts of ink.HP replacement cartridges cost the earth whereas good quality compatibles are cheap and readily available for Epson. I have owned 3 Epsons my current one being the 830 model and I am more than happy with the results. I have never experienced serious clogging of the print-heads, that cannot be cured with the maintenance programme. For really serious clogging try a Xerox and with colour and B/W cartridges at �35 each a replacement set can cost more than the printer itself. I`ll stick with my ultra-reliable Epsons.

I've got a 740 epson and ithink they're a pain in the a*#e! And each cartridge cost in excess of �20! I've yet to find a cheaper cartridge that works well in the 740...and, I've heard you can buy a special key to unlock the reserves in the ink cartridges!

Thankyou all for your answers. You have given me something to think about. By the way romano have you considered buying the cartridges on the internet. Such as www.choicestationary.com They are compatible cartridges but they are only a fraction of the cost. Once again thanks all.

i shall give it a go, but it is odd how, if you take off the yellow sticker on top of the cartridges you suddenly get more ink?

There is one little bit problem there is the Definition of a goof inkjet printer varies from person to person and as per requirements as well. Because i wanted inkjet printer but for inkjet coding so i bought it from "citronix uk" which offered me the best Inkjet Coding Machine.
