I have an LG DVD writer, it clearly says on the front "DVD Multi recorder" among other things. It came with Nero software. When I try and create a DVD, Nero does not give the option of a DVD it gives just about everything else,VCD etc etc. Also for info when I put a blank DVD in and try to write to it, it just says invalid medium in the drive. Any ideas anyone?
In the start menu, there'll be some program called 'infotool' or similar under the Nero folder. This will say exactly what media the drive can burn to. Does this also have no tick boxes for the DVD stuff?
Secondly, right-click My Computer and goto properties, then hardware tab, then device manager. Find your drive, and note down the number it (hopefully) gives for it. Does this tally up with the drive on LG's website?
I think the version of Nero that came with the writer is not the full version. When I purchased my laptop (which came with a built in DVD+/- Rewritable drive) I was also supplied with a Nero disc, but like you, I could not find the DVD option.I discovered that the version that came with my laptop was the lower spec version, and I was only able to burn to CD discs.I had to go out and purchase the full version of Nero.
Basically, if the DVD option does not show on the drop down menu in Nero Start Smart, then I am fairly sure that you will not be able to burn to DVD.
