Hi,

I suspect my dentist doesn't do a great job on my teeth, just a passable one, in order to allow for future problems - to keep him in business.

obviously I am not an expert in the ways of the dentist, but I have had more problems than ever since i began seeing this one about 8 years ago, and it just seems that things are not as good as they should be.

every time I go to see him, if i am unemployed at the time, he tries to give me a gold filling.
I now have 3 and they all are sensitive, gappy and awkward in my mouth, and also keep coming loose.

he has ignored me when i told him of a tiny brown hole in one tooth, saying he couldn't see it.

do you think this could be possible and if so, what can i do about it?

many thanks

I don't think any Dentist would do a bad job so that you keep going back!!

Dentists are seldom short of work, I would imagine he is just a poor Dentist.

You should be able to see a different Dentist within the practise.
Hmmm, you really are a difficult person joko. You seem really paranoid and think everyone is out to get you. Is something wrong at the moment? are you a little frustrated by any chance?
In answer to your question, why not go see another dentist?
it's ok joko, I'm paranoid as well!!
How come your paranoid ummmm? have you cheated in your past relationship or something? Usually if a woman is paranoid then that is the reason. If a guy is paranoid then they usually get knocked back a lot.

mrben - what are you dribbling on about?

how do you work out that i am difficult, think everyone is out to get me, and that i am frustrated?

i asked a simple question on something I have noticed...or are people unable to to make observations in your little world? talk about adding 2+2 and coming up with 5!

is your mind so small you are unable to have an independant thought?
must all thoughts relate to your life intimately?

is that how you think?

oh dear, what a sad little loser you are.
Ha Ha Ha joko, i have just answered your question. Now why have you got so irate with me?
ha ha ha ha ha ha

see mrben...?

another nonsensical 'pearl' of wisdom that clearly comes from the mind of an inane 13 year old.

did you get that out of "the big boys bumper book of grown up stuff"

well done...
Question Author
look up the word irate mrben - its in a big book called a dictionary.

also reread the other question - its not too understand i'm sure - i said things that are nothing to with you - you answer my question - its to do with me.

please don't try to be a smart arse - you really aren't very good at it - you just sound like a snickering schoolboy
Sorry joko, i apologise.
You asked a question and have answered it yourself :)
with a little help...
Question Author
err...i ask a question about dentists - you call me paranoid etc and that somehow answers my question...mmm...

still not getting it are you mrben...dear oh dear....learn to read...
joko....I think that was aimed at me!!!! sorry

The answer Mr Ben is no I haven't but will not go any deeper on this thread
actually, I take that back....I didn't read the first replies properly
Sorry ummmm, shouldnt have mentioned you really.
Hi Joko, I once worked for a dentist that used to purposely do root canal treatments to get more money coming in. Also as you mentioned if someone was unemployed he would make sure he claimed for plenty of work on them.
You are not paranoid..Although I will say that was a few years ago and nowdays they are very booked up so they should not be so short of money I would have thought.

Thats ok Mr Ben, I've just read the other question....Thats what you get when you go to the shop, miss all the fun!!! lol
I guess it's possible, joko - and more than that, to judge by Lucyd's post. As far as I know, though, gold fillings are supposed to be better than porcelain ones (though they don't put them at the front where they would show), so it's not necessarily an attempt to rip you off*. If they keep coming loose, that just sounds like bad workmanship, and I would have thought that was a reason to try to find another dentist, in the same practice or not. Fillings should last; having to go back and get them redone isn't right.

*er, having said that, I only think this because my dentist said so!

cheer guys.

he told me gold was stronger that amalgam and porcelain but gold is a soft metal!
unless its mixed with another metal i suppose.

he just seems slapdash and unfortunately there are no other dentists there.

maybe i will see another and see what they make of his handywork.
Gold is certainly stronger and also safer than amalgam.. But not so good if he is useless at getting a good fit as food and stuff will lodge there and cause more problems long term.
Question Author
yes i think thats what happens lucy, some of them seem oddly shaped and have awkward gaps.

i have trouble using floss - it always rips because the gaps between my teeth are so tight - but big enough to get plaque in.
i still try though.
