hi,
i've begun to digitise some VHS movies, the capturing process went fine and i've got a number of avi's ranging from 2Gb to 17Gb.

now when i come to edit them the editing program(s) just hangs on full processor usage.

i've got pinnacle studio 10 as well as intervideo windvd creator 2 platinum.

The pinnacle just wont do anything apart form hang.

The intervideo gets to the rendering process and once it took 2 hours and only gave me half the video!?
the second time around it began to hang just like the pinnacle one did

could someone please tell me what i'm doing wrong?

... one idea that's come to mind is to record smaller avi's <800Mb each but how do i do that, i don't want to be pausing and playig the video all the way through! ...

PLEASE PLEASE HELP :-)

What's your machine spec? What format are you trying to render to?
Pinnacle 10 is very slow and needs lots of RAM and a fast processor.

To render an 8 minute AVI (about 3 GB) into a 720x576 WMV file (about 56 Mb) takes about half an hour on my machine (3 GHz Celeron D with 1 GB RAM).

You also need lots of contiguous free disk space to edit large video files.

its a 2.6ghz p4 with 1gb ram.... but the things that confused me is that the intervideo did it first time around but with half the content, the next time it just hung and when i open the file in a media player that also hangs at some points
