I can no longer add to my bookmarks. Has anyone any idea what is wrong? I do the usual, but the box doesn't come up and they are not added. I must admit I do have a lot of them, but dont know how many are allowed.

A long time ago, I experienced a similar problem with Internet Explorer. (It was probably version 4 or 5 at that time). I wasn't able to solve the problem until I re-installed IE (or, more likely, upgraded it) from a magazine cover disk. I've no idea why the problem happens but Internet Explorer stores each 'favorite' as a separate shortcut. (That's certainly true up to version 6. I don't know whether IE7 still does the same). There does appear to be a maximum number of such shortcuts that IE can handle. Firefox uses a different method of storing 'bookmarks'; they are all listed on a single HTML page, which is updated every time a bookmark is added or deleted
If you're using Internet Explorer, you could try upgrading or re-installing the program. A far better solution, however would be to switch to Firefox which offers a superior method of saving bookmarks. (You can import all of your IE favorites at the click of a button):

Thanks a lot for answering. I am using BT Broadband. I can hardly ever access the net with BT so have to use IE where they have favourites which are ok so have to save them again in favourites. Seems a petty thing I know, but very annoying as I am paying for BT Broadband, The helpline is useless. Thanks again from a real idiot where these things are concerned.
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
Your choice of ISP doesn't affect your choice of browser. If you download Firefox, the installation process asks if you want to import all of your IE 'favorites' (sic), so everything which appears in IE will also appear in Firefox. You can have both browsers on your PC at the same time and, if you want, even have them running simultaneously. You've got nothing to lose by trying it, so why not give it a go?
