when did it first start being able to put photos on cloth?

I was doing my own processing in black and white about 55 years ago and you could buy the chemicals to make up your own mix in which you soaked the linen (a hankie) dried it and then put it onto the baseboard of your enlarger and processed it in the normal (paper) way. The difficult part was that it was all done in the DARK, you could also buy photo linen which was a hell of a lot easier if you could afford it.
