MP4 problem

I bought one of those MP4 players on ebay from someone in Hong Kong and, of course, cannot understand the manual. I can copy and play back music but it only plays back in the order loaded on and there seems no way of sorting by artist, genre, etc. Has anyone else had this problem and solved it? Help!!

Theres nothing on it to say what it is-no logo, writing or anything to identify it at all!

OK - assuming it's a USB device, when you plug it in, is there a little balloon window that appears near the bottom right of the screen? Does it have anything useful in the way of clues?
