Best broadband deal?
6 Answers
I have a bt line at home and want broadband. Who do you suggest? BT, NTL others??? Cheapest and best would be good.
Also, how does it work? do they have to come round and setup a box?
The house already has a BT ISDN box from the previous owners (line cancelled now)
Im a real virgin on broadband and need some guidance.

I have been with talk talk and ntl/virgin and find bt is by far the best. Get the home hub and phone with no messy wires and t is so easy to install yourself. Bt I believe is a little more money but worth every penny! Ring them today and sign up! Hope this helps!
I've found Telewest's deals to be pretty good, and their reliability is excellent.
Two types of broadband: ADSL and cable.
ADSL is down your standard phone line, and they just send you a modem to connect to your computer. You'll also need filters for your phones that you connect too, but afaik the modem comes with a few anyway.
Cable is with a cable service like NTL or Telewest, and it's usually best financially to get the package of broadband, basic cable TV and phone (30/month I think is the offer, free weekend calls or something like that), and requires an engineer to come and assess your property then a bit later more round to fit the box in the wall, then they'll fit the cable modem where you want it and lay all the cables.

I'm with Tiscali and have had no problems in the 2 years I've used them (although plenty of people have apparently!!)
Their cheapest deal at the moment is 13 a month (10 for the first 3 months) and they send you all the stuff you need to get connected so you do it yourself. It's easy enough to set up and comes through your existing BT line.
www.broadbandchecker.co.uk will tell you your options - ADSL will be easier as it comes through your existing line.
