Infrared on phone sony ericcson with Ipaq 3630

I have a Sony Ericcson T610 and a Caompaq Ipaq 3630 and I haven't got the infrared to work. The Ipaq recognises the phone but at the time of transfering, doesn't do anything. (I don't understand most of 'these things', so if you could explain me in an easy way, I would be grateful. (I've also gone to the Compaq site and Sony Ericcson wihout luck!)
