After I have been using my (only 3 years old) computer for a while, it starts to take ages for mouse button clicks to work. I click on something and it will take a long time for any action to take place. This only started to happen recently. The only way to cure it seems to be to reboot. Anyone have any suggestions on what I can do?

number of possibles--depending on--ram u have--free space on hard disk--version of windows--windows uses a process of paging file also known as swap file--what it does is hijack a part of ur hard disk space to use as extra ram memory--if u don't have much ram it could us a fair section of ur hard disk--after 3yrs u may be low on hard disk space so paging can't use as much as it would like and so ur system slows--check amopunt of hd space u have left and if little delete large unwanted files--run defragment hd--usually in start/programs/accessories/system tools--this tidies up ur hd and frees up some space--also run disk cleanup whatever operating system u have--do a search in google for cleanup progs that will delete unused dross--u might want to reinstall ur windows op system--hopefully some or all of these will help and it is not something more serious
I guess on a 3 year old system you are running Windows 98/ME. As aj says, do a disk cleanup. Also, run msconfig and stop everything except systray from starting up on boot. Running Norton WinDoctor may also cure some things.
