I have downloaded a youtube video clip, and it now sits in a little icon on the bottom menu.

Does it have to remain there or can I put it in a purpose created file folder?

Can I copy this clip onto a disc to enable to play it on a DVD player?

If either or both of these are possible, can someone please tell me how?

its should be now in a format called FLV (Flash video) and if you want to play on a dvd, you have to convert it to a MPEG2 file, you will need a program something like this - http://www.applian.com/replay-converter/index_ keepvid.php?src=KeepvidConvert you can buy this, or download it free from a torrent site
