hey..ive got an old cd with some really priceless songs..but they are scratched and jumpy..is there a program i can run them thru on my pc to repair them..i have tried bad cd repair pro.but its still the same?
If the songs are priceless take the CD to a CD shop. They can repolish the surface so the laser will pick up all the info from the emulsion. If you're not too fussed you can do it yourself.
If the recording itself was bad, it can only be slightly improved with audio equipment.
I would buy one of the cheap CD cleaners (a pound or two) and apply wet tooth powder (Eucryl) to the surface of the CD and spin the cleaner. Eucryl is a really mild abrasive and will remove very little material. This ensures that the very mild abrasive is distributed evenly. Only spin for a minute then examine it to see if you have the desired results. Then wash the CD carefully and dry it. It should work. I have used this method with data CDs with complete success.
