I'm being really thick here but what does it mean when someone in a forum simply writes "bump"?

typically a thread gets made about something in the forum, and then goes down the listings as new threads are made by others. to keep it relevent and up on the top page where people can see it, you need to keep it active.

so you can 'bump' the thread up by simply saying something.
the answerbank doesnt order its posts like this so *bump* will do nothing. Some forums have the most recent posts at the top, regardless of whether its a new thread or not. like fo3nix says, you dont have to say bump. you could say koko the klown and the thread will still be bumped to the top.
Bring Up My Post!

"Bring up my lunch" means something else entirely...
answerbank should allow threads to be bumped.ive asked questions before and theyve diappeared from the front page in no time and thus dont get answered.
It's done by the idiots on forums who don't realise other peop;e have not been on forums as long as they have thus instead of helping they confuse people, it would not take much sense to just explain what they are doing.
