pc monitor keeps going blank

my flatscreen monitor has recently started going onto a black sreen for a second or two the coming back on then going off again lol its irratating me now any ideas ppl????

It sounds like you have a bad connection. Have you checked the cables from your monitor to your PC and the power cable?

The answer by miss-terious is probably the most likely reason. Also check that your graphics card is seated properly in its slot and try gently moving the connection to it (the cable). If your graphics card has a fan, check that it is functioning. The first sign of a malfunctioning fan and the associated overheating is intermittent loss of signal to the monitor.
If you can't find any physical problems with the connection, open control panel >system >hardware >device manager >display adapters and right click on whatever is there and click uninstall. Windows will then find the device and load the drivers again. It is possible that you have a corrupted driver.
