What is the longest amount of time you can record on a DVD through a recordable DVD player as I am thinking of using one for CCTV.

A 20 GB Hard drive will usually last around a month, so if you had a 4GB DVD, it should last a week,

Obviously it does depend a lot on the quality you want and what type of recording you are doing.

I'm not convinced that this is the best option though - why not use a computer with harddrive. I suspect that you may have problems using a DVD recorder.
On my DVD recorder I can record for 6 hours on a disc at the lowest quality and 198 hours on the hard drive.
