virgin v box ..tv...vcr..connections

im having problems with my tv set up any help much appreciated. when trying to watch videos on tv connected to v box which i have to put on standby every 5minutes sometimes more frequently the screen goes blank. i can retrieve the picture by switching the v box on and then back to standby. this is not ideal....i dont need to record from tv to video as i have others means i.e. hard drive recorder and v+box but kids would sometimes like to watch videos in their room.... many thanks in advance from 2 kids and their confused father.....all connections appear to by correct
