Hi Chris. I'm always looking through the questions posed on A/B,& I find lots of them very interesting. However as a novice some of the answers take my breath away. I really admire the knowledge that is out there from people like yourself who are helping learners like myself,I am curious Chris,is technology your trade?Ron.

Thanks for your kind comments. No, I don't work in technology. My degree's in maths (which I taught for many years).
However, I'm also a qualified journalist. I do occasional freelance work, usually feature-writing on health or technology issues. (At the moment, I'm doing any work which will help to pay the bills. I'm somewhere between 'unemployed' and 'self-employed', depending upon when you ask!)
While some of my answers are true 'knowledge' many of them are simply derived from using my research skills. Often, that doesn't actually involve much effort or brain power. For example, many questions ask things like "How do I do x, y & z in Outlook Express". I simply open Outlook Express and click the 'Help' button. Two minutes later I post an answer!

PS: While we're handing compliments out, please allow me to thank you for your politeness in always posting a response to any answers you receive. It's always good to know that someone actually bothers to read what I type ;-)

Chris, No need to thank me for all the trouble I go through to make you look even better than you already are. But then if we were all as good at what you do as you are I doubt that would dishearten you in the least. Without implying that I am in any way your equal I do feel you are a kindred spirit. I too am a self-(un)employed entrepreneur who enjoys gaining knowledge through answering others questions that peek my interest (and I know well the feeling of getting called out for eagerly providing an answer before I have it well in hand).
You serve as a fine example for others who contribute answers and set a standard worth striving to achieve. We all need someone to look up to. That must leave you in quite a quandary. Oh well . . .

My thanks go to both Wendilla & Mibn2cweus for their kind comments.
Mibn2cweus suggests that I might find it hard to find someone to look up to on AB. That isn't true; I suggest reading the 'Christmas' link, above, to see the names of some of the contributors I admire. (I omitted Mibn2cweus from my list of 'Superstars'; that only goes to show that I can make mistakes on AB! ;-) ).
Thanks again, to both of you.
